Amazon.com Review Sleekly contemporary with a brushed-chrome exterior and tinted window, this toaster oven has a .5-cubic-foot capacity, large enough to roast a 5-pound chicken or toast six slices of thick bread. It can be used for baking pies, cookies, and casseroles; for broiling fish, steaks, and burgers; and for toasting bagels and English muffins as well as browning gratins and cobblers. Its nonstick interior wipes clean with a cloth and its rack (which fits in two positions) and broiler/baking pan are dishwasher-safe. Though the 1500-watt oven has a large capacity, it measures a compact 18 inches wide (including handles), 9-1/4 inches high, and 13-1/2 inches deep (including dial controls and a handy cord-wrap in the rear). The oven offers baking temperatures from 200 to 500 degrees F. There are three toast settings, with an automatic shutoff and an audible tone when toasting is completed. The toaster oven carries a three-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Unreliable Didnt Last. We purchased this toaster oven three or four years ago. I agree that the exterior of this oven gets very hot to the touch when in use -- not safe with little ones in the house. The controls are imprecise resulting in burned toast on the light setting sometimes and barely browned on the same setting other times. Within a year of buying it the front element went out resulting in even more uneven heating. Finally it shorted out altogether and now only a few years later were looking at replacing an expensive appliance and I am not at all convinced that I should go with another Cuisinart. :2010-09-15 04:24:12
Great while it lasted Like many other reviewers I was disappointed with the life span on this item. Having had (still have and still using) other Cuisinart products I thought this would be a good investment to replace my 15-year old Delonghi toaster oven. It worked great for the first few years then started developing problems with the controls. Now after only 4 years it is nothing more than an extreme fire hazard. The controls dont work unless you jiggle the knobs and even then it randomly turns off or goes into broil mode (regardless of the settings). and the random beeping (more like a tortured shriek) is disconcerting at best. :2010-09-15 04:24:12
Report this product to the CPSC As well as posting reviews PLEASE report this product to the CPSC. It will take only a few minutes of your time and it could prevent property damage or even a life being lost. Even if you have since thrown it out let CPSC know what is going on with the controls going wacky as this product can still be purchased. This item needs to be taken off the market.
I wanted and received this as a gift about 4 or 5 years ago. We used it once in awhile but it was so much more convenient to just use the smaller toaster to make toast as this is a large piece of equipment and I didnt store it on my counter all the time. Id say we used it about 3-4 times a month except during the holidays Superbowl and Daytona 500 when it was used almost everyday three or four times a day.
However about 2 months ago my main oven broke. We needed a bit of time to save up for a new one so I thought "no problem Ill just keep the Cuisinart toaster oven on the counter and use it as I w :2010-09-15 04:24:12
Short lifespan due to cheap internal parts + fire hazard! I initially loved the size and appearance of this toaster oven plus I assumed it would be decent quality with a name like Cuisinart. However it only survived a year or so before the function knob (off/toast/bake/broil) stopped working. The way I found out was one day I starting smelling burning plastic and traced it to the oven. I thought it was such a shame to throw out a relatively new toaster so I had my electrical engineer father take a look at it. When we took it apart we found the culprit. Cheap manufacturing has led to arcing internally that melted the cheapo plastic piece behind the function knob. Definitely a FIRE HAZARD! Well with a little melting of our own (using a sauter iron) we shaped it back to work properly. This did the trick for about 6 months to a year more when I smelled plastic again. Now the ONLY feature that works is the toast function.
I would seriously consider opting for a different brand considering that all Cuisinart toaster ovens wi :2010-09-15 04:24:12
Great at the beginning but...... I really enjoyed this toaster oven after using Black and Decker undercounter toaster ovens. One problem is keeping it clean inside. Crumbs accomulate on the tray as designed but get into the hinge for the door and when closing splatter everywhere. Taking the door off is not easy so you just live with the mess on the countertop.
After using the oven for about a year and a half the paint on the back of the inside of the oven is peeling off. When I contacted Cusinart I was told they needed to determine if the product was under warranty. All I wanted was a letter stating that the paint was not toxic or any other health problem if is got in the food and that is would not be a safety issue (fire). The customer service person stated they didnt write those type of letters. Since the product was manufactured in China they may have specified a non-toxic fire and heat retardant but you never know if that is actually what was applied. I will be replacing this oven with someth :2010-09-15 04:24:12
